Leeds Spiders are recruiting new players
Leeds Spiders Wheelchair Basketball club is on the look out for new players to join their side. Our club has a great history in the game; with a track record of growing players from beginners to International Level, with current Great British Wheelchair Basketball squad members Harry Brown and Sophie Carrigill coming through the our ranks.
Leeds Spiders Wheelchair Basketball club isn’t just for people with the aspirations of representing their country at a Paralympics. We have a wide range of members from a mix of ages, gender’s, disabilities, nationalities. We have members coming from throughout the region to our club to stay active, socialise, get advice on living with a disability, volunteer and compete.
The club is a real lifeline for our members, their families and friends. From education to career aspersions, travel planning, and even for parents to be. Together we gain real life advice from others in the disability community who may have gone through a similar experience before.
In Leeds alone, 7.2% of the population have a disability, while in Yorkshire and The Humber nearly 19% of the population have a disability (2021 Census).
The club has a variety of sports wheelchairs that new members can use at its training sessions. The team train every Tuesday between 19:00 and 21:00 at Morley Leisure Centre.
Before coming to your first session please contact the Chairman, Andrew Gardner, via Mobile 07769 938797 or Email andyg@spider-y.org.uk.
